2017 West Side Nut Club Fall Festival

Dating back to 1921, the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival has been an important part of the Evansville community and its surrounding townships for almost 100 years. Starting as a small Halloween festival and masked ball with around 25,000 attendees, the festival has steadily grown and now attracts an estimated 200,000 attendees from throughout the Tri-State area and beyond each year. The festival is now considered to be one of the largest street festivals in the nation. This year, the festival celebrated its 96th year, as participants filled the streets during the first week of October.

Some More History on the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival

The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival has evolved and grown over the years, with the addition of some concessions, circus acts, fair animals, and carnival rides – including a Ferris wheel, a merry-go-round, and mini autos – in 1940. In 1947, the tradition of crowning a Fall Festival Queen was incorporated, and in the 1950’s, the festival began to quickly expand with the addition of entertainment acts during the evenings and an increased level of carnival rides and attractions. This is also the time period during which non-profit organizations from throughout the community began to host booths on Franklin Street to raise money for community service projects.

Today the event spans an entire week each October and includes talent competitions, carnival attractions, entertainment, a parade, and more than 136 food booths – most powered by propane from Lin-Gas.

Lin-Gas is Proud to be a Part of this 96 Year Tradition

Lin-Gas has been involved in the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival for years, and we are now proud to be the designated propane supplier for the festival, working alongside the Evansville Fire Department to ensure safety and continuity throughout the event.

One of the biggest events we participate in each year, preparing for the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival is quite an undertaking for the Lin-Gas team. In the days leading up to the event, our team is busy painting cylinders to get them in top shape to provide propane to most of the 136 food booths.

Over the week-long festival, our drivers work tirelessly to ensure food booths have a safe supply of propane by delivering cylinders that adhere to fire code regulations.

Our involvement in the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival means working a lot of overtime for the Lin-Gas team, but we have fun participating in this beloved tradition of the Evansville community year after year and seeing all of the money raised by the amazing charities and community organizations that participate in the event.

We look forward to celebrating the 97th Annual West Side Nut Club Fall Festival next October. Until then, enjoy these photos and see our propane tanks in action during the 2017 festivities held earlier this month.
